The story of Berticot starts in 1965 when a handful of men wanting to regroup their productions create the cooperative cellar, 2km away from the village of Duras. Berticot wines are made from grapes that were selected, followed closely and vinified with precision in our cellars, mixing modernity with tradition.
The harvest is mechanical, with a hand selection before using a machine to remove all of the defective grapes.
Once in the vat, the grapes are kept at a cold temperature for one week to extract as much fruit as possible. When the juice has reached the set objective, we let the temperature of the grapes rise again and the alcoholic fermentation begins. The extraction of the tannins is smooth in order to obtain a succulent wine which tastes like fruit.
The wine is reared in tanks: after being assembled, the wine is kept in tanks until the perfect harmonization of the grape varieties.
The wine wasn’t glued and treated against tartaric precipitations and contains very little sulfur. Deposits can occur, they do not alter the quality of the product but are witnesses of the respect given to the wine.
This vintage directly shows its richness, draped of a deep ruby red colour. The subtle, delicate and elegant nose reveals notes of ripe and spicy fruit underlined with intense toasted aromas. The harmonious, fleshy and sweet taste brings delicacy to this wine.
